Jake, 15, had been begging Gaby for weeks to show him around her college campus—specifically the athletic facilities. And today, for whatever reason, his 18-year-old sister finally caved.
“Okay, okay,” Gaby said as they walked past the massive Kentucky Wildcats stadium. “You get one tour, and don’t embarrass me.”
Jake grinned wide. “No promises.”
She rolled her eyes but smiled anyway. Gaby led him through the side gate, past some trainers, and into the women’s athletics building. “This is where we train, and this—” she pushed open a heavy door—“is our locker room.”
Jake stepped in and immediately lit up. “Yo this looks like a movie!” There were blue LED-lit lockers with nameplates, turf patches, massage tables, and a row of Gatorades that looked like they’d been arranged for a photoshoot.
Then he saw it—the indoor pool behind a glass wall. He walked toward it slowly, hypnotized. “Wait… you guys have a POOL?!”
Gaby narrowed her eyes. “Jake, no—”
But he was already kicking off his shoes.
“Jake. JAKE. Do not—”
Too late. With a loud splash, he cannonballed straight into the crystal-clear water, jeans and all. Gaby stood at the edge with her hands on her hips, water droplets hitting her sneakers.
“You are so lucky no one’s here right now,” she muttered, trying not to laugh.
Jake popped up from the water, slicking his hair back dramatically. “Ten out of ten facilities. I’m transferring here.”
She facepalmed. “You’re not even old enough to attend college yet.”
