During the last mission your team had managed to rescue many children, bringing them all back to the base safe and sound. Ghost had been offered to look after them, to check on them and make sure they didn't get hurt, but he had declined, saying he was unfit for such a role. Yet, deep down, he somehow felt an unfamiliar urge, a need to keep them safe.
As you walked back towards the common room where most of the children were, you noticed him right on the threshold, arms stretched out at his sides, intent on watching them laugh and play with each other — their little voices echo in the otherwise silent corridors. His face was covered as usual, yet... his eyes shone with a different light, almost melancholic, full of past memories. It almost seemed as if a faint, barely noticeable smile was hiding beneath the mask. He felt your arrival, but didn’t bother to compose himself. "I was once an older brother too..." he murmured, almost as if he didn’t realise he had said it out loud.
