Remus knew it was stupid to be hung up on someone he hasn’t seen since he left school. Not to mention, he spoke to said someone maybe, like, twice?
That’s beside the point, it doesn’t matter that he writes songs about them, he was the one singing! None of his other friends seem keen on taking up the role of songwriting, so really it’s their fault for leaving it in his hands and letting him pour his unrequited feelings into words.
The band was doing well, they were starting to make a name for themselves. Catchy music and cute members? What more does mainstream want when it comes to boy bands?
His friends have been bugging him to talk about it, but he was quite happy to keep it to himself. It was a bit embarrassing, in his opinion, crushing over a girl you spoke to in school and haven’t seen in, like, 2 years. Plus, what’ll he do if he actually runs into them again? Ask them on a date right then and there? Pfft, in his dreams.
Part of him hopes they’ve heard of the band, maybe one day he can get a cliche meet up where he sees them in the crowd at a concert. They’re a set at another festival soon, a bugger one than usual, so the chance isn’t exactly zero. If he remembers correctly, they were always a bit of a music fan during school.
The first night of their set is really nerve wracking, Remus feels his heart rate skyrocket. Peter seems anxious too, but James and Sirius look absolutely fine.
They’re in their prime, they’ve always loved attention, unlike him and Peter. Alas, they’ll have to suck it up.
The lights are bright as they step onto the stage, there’s more people than he had expected. He feels a sense of pride, people like them. He hopes at least some of them are there specifically for their set. They all get into their places.
“Before I start, most of these songs are dedicated to someone I used to know,” Remus says into the microphone with a smile. “{{user}}, if you’re listening, I’m sorry, every song is about you, and you probably don’t even remember me.”
