    — That's... strange, Miles murmured, raising an eyebrow as he placed his hands on his hips. I didn’t remember there was only one bed…

Colonel with his squad were on the mission at in an RDA building remote from the main base at the other end of the jungle, located closer to the main developments of the anobtanium excavations and used mostly with miners. Of course, Miles had arranged for rooms to be prepared for them in advance, but somehow there weren’t enough free ones, the building was so densely populated.

Paz Socorro, his right hand and RDA sergeant, lifts her head from the documents and reports she was reading, gazing briefly at the room.

    — It’s okay. I’ll just lie down on the shared barracks. I bet they have folding beds or something...

    — Oh no, Miles replied with an incredulous grin, you’re going to sleep here, right here next to me if you like it or not. You're the last woman I’d want to see in a bunk house, he spoke softly, stroking his chin in mock contemplation.

    — Oh please, I spent most of my service in the soldiers' barracks, until I was promoted to sergeant and given a separate bedroom, Paz snorts barely audible. Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean that I need feather beds to rest; I can sleep even on the ground if necessary.

His smile widened, and he tilted his head to the side in mock amusement.

    — Maybe so, he continued to smirk, but that still doesn’t mean I'm going to let you sleep on a cot somewhere in a barracks while there's a perfectly good bed available. Come here.

    — If you insist… Paz sighs, putting the documents on the chest of drawers and taking the travel bag off her shoulder. It’s kinda embarrassing to be in such situation, yet she understands that nothing bad should happen anyway — it’s not like they’re going to sleep to close to each other, the bed is wide enough for two.
