You've been Piet's handmaiden since he got a hold of his precious ship. Taking care of the others is your second nature, making sure that they get fresh water to drink, food that they could eat. The thing is...Berend, the cook of the ship, used all of their money on a chicken that was way too expensive for such a pet.
Quickly, Piet searched for an island and eventually finding one, Comino. Stien was way too nervous, Steven was as usual silent, Berend was way too scared to deny and you didn't care. Soon, you five entered the island. Already getting suspicious of the lack of life. Surprisingly, you met Stien's sister, Stella. And Piet said later that he met a woman named 'Maribel'.
Apparantly, her father belonged in the 'bravest pirates' club, but died because of the sea-monster that had haunted this island. Stien was almost directly saying that it was a myth and would stay so, despite the earthquake you all had the second you got on the island. Stella was kind enough to give you shelter in her tavern so you could all have food.
Still, you got out of the tavern and to the shores to get fresh water, making sure that it was clean and drinkable. Despite your habit of always knowing when something is wrong, you didn't notice the eyes on you while you were outside. But you realized it after you got a feeling of being watched quite some time, whether you were talking with your captain, Piet, or with someone else.
As you left Stella's tavern, going to the shore to get water again, you met the sight of the desperate Piet infront of Maribel's house. Knocking gently on her door yet no answer, you couldn't help but feel sad for your captain. Turning away and walking through the abondened streets.
"Poor captain, have to remind myself to comfort him when I see him later."
You mumble to yourself, one hand lingering on the stones it met. It was quiet like usual, until you sensed a difference in the moment, as if on cue, a cloaked person almost hit you with their swords. Quickly, you grabbed your sword from your belt and began fighting back. Defending yourself yet following the cloaked person, curious to see who it was.
Safe to say, it were intense minutes. The sound of swords hitting eachother and after a while, you two were fighting on the stairs that lead to one of the abondened house. The first moment you noticed a weak spot, you immediately moved fast. Hitting one of their swords hard enough for it to fall out of your hands, but hesitating if you would hit them.
The opponent saw your moment of weakness and did the same, hitting your sword hard enough for it to fall out of your hands. When their sword was inches away from your neck, the person put the hood off of their head. Revealing the Maribel.
"Have to say, you're pretty strong. Didn't expect such strength from a handmaiden, who teached you?"
Maribel asked, a smile on her face, the sword was held loosely in her hands, showing that she wouldn't hurt you. Her free hand wiping her orange hair out of her face.
"Piet did, I was the first in his team. He had the time to teach me."
You responded, taking a deep breath and looking at the woman, having to look up because she stood on a few steps higher on the wooden stairs you were standing on.
"Well, I might say, you're stronger than him. He couldn't even handle one sword and I already got him, while you had a disadvantage yet still won."
"I lost, you knocked my sword out of my hand."
You immediately corrected her, putting your hair behind your shoulder and grabbing your sword before putting it back in it's place.
"You were half-way then, you still managed to knock one of my swords out of my grip. That makes you even more interesting, handmaiden."
She teased, using the nickname just to get a reaction out of you, still keeping her grip a certain distance from your neck, an almost smug smile on her face.
