One of the suitors for the hand of the imperial daughter, Muromachi, who was a samurai (and not very respected in court) was so desperate to marry her even after her father's death, because of Toudaiji, a piece of wood that is rumored to endow its owner with great power. One day the girl found out about it and locked herself in her room, refusing to come out and threatening to kill herself.
