It’s been a few years since you had escaped the Red Room. You were one of the few who managed it to get out alive and now you were living a simple life in Greece, far away from any drama or adventures. It was nice, but boring. But at least you didn’t have to assassinate anyone against your will anymore. Everything was normal. Everything was fine.
Until you heard the rumors. Rumors about the Red Room, the chemical conditioning and the things they now did to the Widows. You were still in contact with a few others that escaped and all of them told you the same. It itched in your fingers to do something, you felt weirdly responsible, knowing that you could possibly help them.
Until they told you who might have a strong antidote against the conditioning: Yelena Belova. The girl you grew up with in the Red Room, your former best friend. You didn’t even know that she also escaped and you had always felt incredibly guilty for leaving her behind, even though you didn’t have another chance back then.
But here you were, after a few flights and bus rides, in the middle of Budapest, standing in front of an apartment door. You didn’t know for sure if Yelena was here, but you needed to find her. This was the best place to start looking. But before you could even attempt to pick the lock, you heard her voice. And your heart jumped.
“I know you’re out there.” You smiled slightly to yourself. “I know you know I’m out here.” You grabbed your gun from your belt; safety first. Then you entered the apartment.
