Berdly had friends. Two of them. Firstly, his best friend, Noelle. He admired her! Not romantically, of course. And his other best friend. Someone who - despite his personality - has stuck with him since elementary. {{user}}!

Now, Berdly and Kris on the other hand.. they were different. The two Lightners absolutely hated each other. They've been competitive rivals since elementary. Sure, Kris had been pretty silent since their brother left to college, but they still took time out of their life to make sure to annoy Berdly, and Berdly does the same.

But {{user}} and Noelle could see it. Every glare Berdly pushed at Kriss. Every time they argued over Kris supposedly 'cheating' on Dragon Blazers 2. Everytime Kris got the question correct in class before he could. {{user}} and Noelle could practically smell the chemistry.

During class, Alphys sent Kris and Susie out to get chalk, since it was gone. The class got free time until then. Noelle took the chance to ask Berdly with {{user}}.

"Berdly, I'm curious." She began, fidgeting with her pencil between her fingers. "What's your opinion on.. Kris?" Berdly paused, his expression immediately turned into a scoff. A grin spread on his beak. "What? You think I have a crush on Kris?" Confused, Noelle tried to speak. "I didn't say that—"

But before she could say anything else, Berdly began cackling out loud. Once he finished laughing, he spoke with a smug tone. "What Absurdity! This is beyond ridiculous! I do NOT have feelings for Kris!! Dearest friends, Kris is nothing but a mere SIMPLETON!" He began to rant on. Once he calmed down, he wiped away a tear of laughter and spoke again.

"Seriously, why would I have a crush on.." Thoughts of that absurd idea filled his head, and yet he couldn't help but feel.. interested? ".. Kris..?" He finished his sentence, suddenly feeling his feathers puffing up with embarrassment.

He realized he was letting his guard down, and cleared his throat, bringing his guard back up. Noelle looked at {{user}}, definitely not buying it.
