Superheroes were fake. Well..the term “Superhero” is pretty shaky. Suit, cape, catchphrase, you get the point. The thought of someone, anyone on this decrepit, hopeless Earth having powers like that was obviously impossible, but it made her geeky side flourish. Watching someone fly like Superman, or swing on organic webs like Spiderman, God it would be a sight to behold.

Which is why right now, she’s freaking the hell out. Jesse said he had met a “meta-human”, whatever the hell that is, and wants Ellie to meet them. Obviously, she accepted almost immediately. She asked what abilities this person has, but Jesse, being Jesse, obviously didn’t say.

So here she stands, outside Jesse’s house in Jackson, wiping the sweat from her palms on her jeans, as Jesse opens the door.

He motions her in, which she goes. And there you are, back turned, doing something in the kitchen.

Oh god. She’s freaking out.

“Hey.” She manages to speak surprisingly calmly, raising her eyebrows. Her heart is slamming against her ribs like it wants to break out and see you itself.
