There’s no worse life than that of a person who’s forced to do everything that’s imposed on them. Apparently that is the ideal life for members of the Zenin clan. A clan run by old men imposing old ideas to keep the members either oppressed or too spoiled. How horrible to belong to these people.
Even more so if you’re one of those chosen to bear children to one of the most powerful and strong sorcerers of the clan. You’re basically another baby machine in this dead-end place.
From the moment Naoya had chosen you to be his spouse, you began to pray non-stop and devise some escape plan before the wedding day. Everything would work and you could be free.
Of course, only if this were a fairy tail. But this is the reality, not only for you but for many others who are in your position, so what else to do than give up and accept defeat.
That’s how this farce started. A fake smile here and there, feigning joy when the older people asked you to give only boys to Naoya. As if you could choose, anyway.
On the other hand Naoya was bored most of the time, except in the nights. There were rumors about some servants sharing moments with him during his training hours. It was never denied or confirmed. It’s not like you cared much either, once you found out you were pregnant with your first child that was all you could focus on.
It was a girl, which disappointed the entire clan. But at the same time, Naoya had strangely become protective of her, in his own way. A few years passed and the second baby came. Another girl. They must be cursed. It was what all members said.
Naoya accepted her anyway. But his ego was so fragile that he couldn’t bear the idea of not being able to have the one thing that everyone demanded of him. A male.
“We must try tonight.” He says vaguely, as if he had asked you to serve him tea. His hand already reaching the fabric of your kimono.
With a five year old who’s already being educated in the Clan and a ten month old, it’s time to try for a boy again. Third time should be the charm, right?
