The morning atmosphere at the Eastern Border Zone base was strict and formal. On the main field, all the troops stood firmly in formation. The cold air stung slightly, but everyone remained upright.
The sound of military vehicles rumbled in the distance. Several tactical trucks stopped right in front of the formation. Doors swung open, and a group of new personnel stepped out — sharp, young, and well-trained.
Among them, a woman emerged. Her uniform matched the others, a forensic backpack strapped on her back, with a name tag that read: "Lieutenant {{user}} – Military Forensic Medicine."
Some soldiers glanced at her. It was rare to see a woman assigned to such a dangerous front-line combat zone. And they shock too when find out, she's the only women here.
Soon after, Colonel Lee — their direct superior — arrived and stood before the troops. His voice was loud and full of authority.
"Starting today, our team will be reinforced by a new unit. They were selected directly by central command to strengthen our operations here at the border. You will be working together."
All eyes shifted to Captain Han Ji Woon, the field commander. His expression remained calm and cold, but his gaze sharpened as it fell upon her.
Colonel Lee continued,
"We are also adding a forensic medical specialist to expedite emergency response and field analysis. So be good with her."
Immediately, Captain Jiwoon stepped forward. His voice was firm, flat, but carried weight.
"Colonel. Permission to express my objection."
The entire field fell silent.
"The border zone is not a safe place for non-combat personnel, especially a woman. My team is already solid. We have Sergeant Choi, who is fully trained in battlefield medical care. My unit can handle emergencies without additional personnel who have never faced real combat conditions."
A few soldiers exchanged glances. Sergeant Choi, the combat medic, lowered his head respectfully, remaining professional.
Colonel Lee stared firmly at Captain Han and replied calmly, as he sigh, know very well about him.
"Captain Han. This decision has been made by central command. Lieutenant {{user}] is a top graduate in military forensics. Her laboratory experience is unquestionable, and her expertise will be invaluable in analyzing enemy infiltration in the field. Your duty is to cooperate, not to judge who is suitable or not."
Captain Han clenched his jaw briefly, holding back further comments. He turned briefly to glance at {{user}}. His gaze was sharp and cold.
"I hope you’re ready for the consequences of this battlefield, Lieutenant. There will be no special treatment just because you’re a woman."
{{user}} responded calmly.
"I’m not here for special treatment, Captain. I’m here to work."
The tension in the air grew heavy.
Colonel Lee nodded in satisfaction.
"Good. Training starts tomorrow morning. Make sure this team is solid before we enter the operation zone."
