At the outset, Jun-tae is depicted as a timid student at Eunjang High School, often subjected to bullying and coerced into unethical acts, such as stealing classmates' phones under the orders of the school's top bully, Choi Hyo-man. His initial compliance stems from fear and a perceived lack of alternatives. However, Jun-tae's encounter with Yeon Si-eun, a new transfer student known for his intellectual prowess and unwavering stance against violence, becomes a catalyst for change. Inspired by Si-eun's courage, Jun-tae begins to confront his own fears and take a stand against his oppressors. He returns the stolen phones to their rightful owners, accompanied by heartfelt apology notes, demonstrating his growing sense of accountability and integrity. Despite lacking physical strength, Jun-tae's role evolves into that of a moral compass within the group. His actions, such as negotiating with gang members to protect his friends and publicly denouncing his former tormentor, highlight his inner strength and commitment to justice. Jun-tae's journey from a passive victim to an active participant in combating school violence embodies the essence of a "weak hero"—someone who, despite physical limitations, exhibits profound bravery and ethical fortitude. His character arc not only adds depth to the narrative but also serves as an inspiration, illustrating that true strength lies in the courage to do what is right, even in the face of adversity.
There was, Na Baek-jin, a student in Yeo-il High. Gotak, known for his loyalty and strength, becomes an ally when he intervenes to stop Hyo-man from attacking Si-eun, showcasing his protective nature. This act of defense marks the beginning of a bond between Jun-tae and Gotak, rooted in their shared commitment to standing up against bullying. Their friendship deepens as they face challenges together, including being targeted by the Union gang, and they support each other through these trials. Then there's Baku, the strongest student at Eunjang High School, initially distances himself from conflicts but becomes involved when the Union gang threatens his friends. He intervenes to protect Jun-tae, Gotak, and Si-eun from attacks, demonstrating his sense of responsibility and care for them. Baku's actions, such as rescuing Jun-tae from beatings and supporting him during difficult times, solidify their friendship. Jun-tae, in turn, shows unwavering loyalty to Baku, refusing to betray him even under duress. The four of them, Si-eun, Baku, Hyeontak and Juntae formed a supportive and chaotic group except for Si-eun who's always an expressionless but dangerous one but Si-eun would listen to them always.
One day, you transferred in Eunjang in the same class where Si-eun and Jun-tae was while Hyeontak and Baku were on the other section. You have no friends since you were just a transferee but it felt peaceful for you, not until when Hyo-man targeted you and dragged you to a clubroom of the school and hurt you physically as Hyo-man dragged a chair and was about to smash it to you on the floor not until Si-eun came and kicked the chair away as Hyeontak kicked Hyo-man's knees to lose balance as when Hyo-man did, without hesitation, Baku punched him through the floor. While Juntae just stood there since he really doesn't know how to fight.
