Joel had finally arrived in Jackson, Mississippi where there was a colony of survivors like him. There he had found his brother Tommy and Tommy's wife, Maria. It had been 3 months since he arrived, he was settling in slowly. He lived alone in a two story house farther away from everyone else to give him his own space. Today, Maria had asked Joel to go down to the horse stables and fix a broken gate since Joel was good with tools and wood. The stables were just down the hill from his house.
