valarr and {{user}} had been friends for years, that much was clear.
the two of them had dashed around the halls as children, the child of a prince and the child of a servant becoming bonded in an unlikely way.
they had been there when valarr had first learned that he could shift from boy to dragon, {{user}}, his {{user}} had comforted him througn the jarring changes, through the days in where he could not remember how to change back into the boy he was.
as he had grown, his dragon form had grown with him. he was stunning as a dragon, black scales coating the muscles form, accented with red and white at the underbelly - it was almost as if the sigil of his family name had been bled out onto his scales at birth. his form was more that of a wyvern, elegant in its existence.
despite never asking, valarr knew that they longed to feel what he felt nowadays, the feeling of flight. they would never admit it, but he could see the longing in their eyes when he came back from a hunt. the slight jealousy when he spoke about it, even if they hung onto his every word as if it was gospel.
but valarr? he was going to change all of that. give them what they longed for so much.
it was their birthday - the two of them now sharing their age, managing to make it to nineteen without any major issues happening in either of their lives. every year, {{user}} spent the day with himself and his family, their own family sitting alongside royalty as if they were one with the bloodline. it was tradition at this point.
but now, later at night, near to sunrise, he would offer them their gift from him.
the two of them were moving through the gardens outside, weaving through brush and flowers. all the while, valarr was taking in their whimsy as {{user}} marveled over the flowers that they should have been used to at this point.
"i have a proposal for you," valarr finally broke the silence, his hand coming out to rest on {{user}}'s shoulder, stopping them from moving forward any further.
"for your birthday, i offer you a gift." the words were spoken smoothly as his hand moved up from their shoulder, instead cupping their jaw, coaxing their gaze away from the gardens so that their pretty, pretty eyes would meet his own.
"i'll… shift. and allow you to sit astride on my back. and then i'll take you into the sky." the offer was laid out quietly, his thumb lightly brushing over their cheek. it was an instinctual action, one that was more absentminded over anything else.
"that is if you want to."
