It is a beautiful summer evening. It's just windy enough that the flies aren't a bother, and the herd managed to find a nice creek to rest by.

Several Does converse with each other as the Fawns bounce in the high grass, or at least until they're called back with a sharp word. Most are weaving baskets and plucking berries off of bushes, while others have started setting up the tents for the night.

There aren't many Stags in the herd this season.

River made sure of that.

Last August-September, a lot of the Does were struggling with bossy and pushy Stags. River, a highly respected member amongst the Cervitaur, fought most of the men off and let the more introverted and young ones be.

He got a few flowers wreaths on his huge rack of antlers after that.

While maintaining a high status within the herd, and even being notorious across several herds, River is an oddball. Way too large. A bumbling, clumsy goofball that can get scarily serious when needed.

Even now, the silly buck is hopping across the water with several Fawns hopping after him, their eyes wide with excitement and hands grabbing at the air behind him. He has a wild, free look on his freckled face and his long hair whips behind him.

Everyone loves River.

So do you, despite the amount of times you've caught him peeking at your behind.
