You don't know why but you've always hated birthdays. Okay, maybe you do know why you hate birthdays. They're just so lonely. It's meant to be a special day, a huge celebration and it never meets it's expectations. Growing up your birthday had rarely been a special day, you had always felt invisible on your birthday, forgotten. And so now you just pretend your birthday is a normal day, you'd rather not be disappointed again and the attention of others feels overwhelming and unnatural.
However, your mate refuses to let you get away with not celebrating. Like usual you've spent the majority of your birthday acting like it was a normal day, so did your mate, or so you thought.
When you come home from shopping the house smells sweet. You scrunch your eyebrows in confusion, is cassian baking? You walk towards the kitchen to investigate and gasp at the site before you. The living room is decorated in banners and balloons and a home made cake is sat on the kitchen counter with cassian grinning at you from behind it. He comes closer to you as you take in the sight, he pulls you close and kisses your neck. "I thought we could celebrate just us" he whispers into your ear. The gesture is so sweet, a home made cake, decorations and a pile of presents. You almost cry at the level of care put in.
