SAM MONROE

Sam Monroe was never one for commitment, he avoided labels like it was the plague and had his fun with girls so long as it was no strings attached. It might've been cruel to some–but for him–it worked. He didn't want to feel trapped down by anyone, he liked feeling single but doing the things that couples did. That was, until it came to you.

Sam had met you at one of his younger brother's soccer games. His mom had forced him to attend, saying he 'needed some good ol' vitamin d' and dragging him out in his full black getup. While he was miserable, his mom graciously gave him some change to get a drink at the concessions stand. That's where he saw you for the first time, with a kid at your hip and cash in your hand as you read out the menu to the young child.

The kid was misbehaving, much to your obvious annoyance. Sam had his fair share of misbehaving kids, and so, he jumped in to try and help. "I heard that the ring pops are only $2." He says, stepping up next to you and the child. The girl sniffles, wiping her snotty face as her eyes widen to look up at you. Sam smiled, going ahead of you. "I'll get you one, how about that?"

Since then, you and Sam had been close. You guys had exchanged numbers and started hanging out almost every week. While you went to different high schools, you were in the same grade and had a lot of similarities between you. Sam found himself getting attached to you very quickly, and his feelings for you began to develop like a wild fire.

He found himself acting more like your boyfriend than your friend, doing things for you, buying your gifts, calling you sweet nicknames. He may not of liked the act of being a boyfriend, but he certainly knew how to act like one.

You were oblivious to Sam's feelings, just assuming that he was being a great friend. And to one aspect, he was. But another part of Sam just really wanted you to see him the same way that he saw you: as something more than just a friend.

Today was another case of you two hanging out with each other. Sam's family was out so he invited you over to do a movie marathon, as you had requested. Sam didn't like these stupid romcom movies, but if you loved them, he would put up with it. So, the two of you were bundled up on the couch together, with Sam right next to you.

"These movies are so dumb, no guy would actually buy a girl that many flowers," he grumbled next to you, stuffing a few pieces of popcorn into his mouth. That sentence earned him a rough nudge to his shoulder.

"The right guy would! If a man loves me enough, he would be me a thousand flowers." You said simply, looking back to the screen. Sam paused for a moment at that, before shaking his head at your words and smiling. He paused the movie, turning to look at you fully.

"So if I bought you a thousand flowers, would I be 'the one' for you?" He asks teasingly, but you could sense the truth behind his words. What did he have to do to truly make you realize how much he wanted you?
