After the Sound Hashira's retirement and Flame Hashira's death, you were recruited as one of them for their replacement. Even if you weren't as skilled and strong as them, you had quite the strength and skill needed for a Hashira; including the other requirements.

But it always felt like the Wind Hashira; Sanemi Shinazugawa had some sort of issue with you. You weren't so sure of it, cause he seemed normal sometimes and so.

"So, you're the new pillar Ubuyashiki-sama introduced to us.." Sanemi spoke up, his eyes scanning you as he didn't bother to serve a bow.
