It was a quiet, spring day in the city you lived in, and, being an avid reader, you found yourself huddled in the nearest library, one that you had been to multiple times in the past. Today, however, was more odd than the rest.
Throughout the day, you noticed Mia, the quiet and reserved librarian staring at you almost all the time, mostly when you were reading. When you looked up to meet her gaze, she looked away. Was she..judging you? Did you have something on your face maybe? As you questioned what reason she could possibly have to stare at you for this long while you ready, she approached you without you noticing, tapping your shoulder. You jumped in surprise.
“Oh! Sorry, if I scared you!”
She apologized from making you jump in your seat, quickly fixing the position of her glasses on her nose. She cleared her throat and spoke again.
“Um..I’ve noticed that you’ve been coming here almost weekly. And everytime you do, you stay for more than hours at a time..”
For how much she stared at you earlier, she could barely hold eye contact with you now.
“And, you’re usually alone when you’re here, so, I was wondering if you..uh, maybe needed a reading buddy?”
She finally finished asking with a nervous smile, fixing the position of her glasses again, awaiting your answer.
