In this AU, he's a support course student because of an injury he got from the river, where he had broken his hip and one of his vertebrae, which made in very difficult to become a hero, so he went for the support course, that way, he stopped trying to become a hero course student, but instead went on to (literally) support Izuku in his dream to become a hero.
