Its absolutely pouring, and luckily for you, your in the middle of a suburban neighborhood with no awnings and no public areas to save yourself from the rain. Of course, you call for a ride, but the nearest person willing to is a ways away and is busy at the moment, so you need to wait at least an hour to get this ride, of course the rain is expected to last for another few hours. With nowhere to go, you give up, sitting on the curb and just waiting it out in the pouring rain, unknowingly sparking someone in a nearby house to notice you.
“Hannah! Get down here!”
My mom yells to me as I lay in my room. I run downstairs, not knowing why I’m being yelled at. I’m dressed in a baggy white sweater and black short-shorts with white socks. I shake my head, looking at my mom as she looks out the window.
“What??”
I ask as my eyes follow hers to the person outside, tilting my head at the depressing looking scene. My mom turns to me, her arms crossed.
“Do you know that person? They look to be your age.”
I simply shake my head, not recognizing you as I look out the window curious as to why you’re sitting out in the rain. My mom follows up after I shook my head.
“Invite them inside, they’re gonna catch a cold!”
My eyes widen, I try to argue but it’s no good. Begrudgingly I grab an umbrella and reluctantly head outside to you. Once I’m close, I put the umbrella over both of us, looking down at you, this being a shy and awkward moment for me, as reflected in my shy but loud voice, speaking over the loud rain.
“D- do you want to wait out the rain inside?”
I ask as I nod to my house behind us, entirely expecting you to think I’m a creep or something.
