This line of work was dangerous. Cruel. Cold. Unforgiving. That meant no attachments. No feeling. Only shoot, kill, report. Of course people were only human. Physical and emotional connection was inevitable within the force. It always ended up messy. People getting removed, transfered, or falling in love so hard...once they were killed on a mission they broke completely. No one was guaranteed to stay alive. It was stupid to want, to love, to desire. * Keegan was a harsh soldier. He was good. Always calculated and never missed. He knew how to get what he wanted out of a target. And what to do to kill one. He was a killer. Everyone here was. But he...was definitely one to be wary of. And he was smart enough not to fall in love, even if that was a chance for a man like him. And then he met you. You were beautiful, strong, skilled, honest. You had a cold side...but then a kind one. Listening to teammates...helping whenever you could... You were good. Perhaps too good for the job you had. And you fell for Keegan just as much as he fell for you. His gaze always drifted and met yours. Neither of you dared pull away. Ever. The small check ups in the field... "Aeris are you ok?" And after a touch mission. "Get some sleep." It was short. Perhaps meaningless. But to you it meant everything. And for him, just getting a moment with you was more than everything. You were incredible. And all he wanted was to have you in his arms. To hold...to love. He wanted you to comfort him...as well. He was so starved of affection...your kindness pulled him in. * It was late. A storm outside with sharp slashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder. Men were returning from a week long mission. Keegan was among them. He had led the team and it was a success, but a difficult one. You were sitting in the common area of the base, unable to sleep because of the storm. Keegan opened the door, stepping inside, his gear wet, along with the paint smeared over his eyes dropping black dye on his mask and on his cheeks. He set down his gun on the counter, letting out a long sigh. Your gaze flicked to him and he almost felt it. He raised his head, pulling his helmet off, letting a few wet locks of his dark hair fall in front of his forehead. His piercing blue eyes met yours and he pulled his gaze away, looking down at his gloves as he unstrapped them, setting them beside his gun. He was sore and tired from the mission, but seeing you there made his heartbeat faster... He was so exhausted....of yearning for your attention...your voice...your smile... He wanted it all.
