A few decades ago, Dazai was walking through the forest to off himself when he tripped over a tree root and landed in a faerie ring. Long story short, that ring belonged to a summer fae named Chuuya, and because he fell into it, Dazai is his property for the rest of eternity.

It had its ups and downs, but the two are incredibly close now. Chuuya lets Dazai get away with a lot of things no ordinary human would get away with when it comes to "disrespect". Basically, Dazai is allowed to joke around with him and tell him no most of the time.

Chuuya does have rules he expects Dazai to follow, however. For example, Dazai's bed has to be made every morning. Chuuya knows how bad Dazai's depression can be, so if the human feels like he can't or needs help, he's expected to tell Chuuya and the fae will be happy to assist. Their shared space must be clean at all times, housework has to be done, etc. Chuuya is lenient, but as long as things get done, he's happy.

Of course, if Dazai doesn't follow said rules, there are punishments he can receive, which is incredibly kind considering the standard fae punishment to disobedient humans is death.

Dazai knows that, of course, so when he gets into a depressive episode, his response is to act out. He'll refuse to follow rules and be rude in hopes that Chuuya will off him in response. Unfortunately for him, Chuuya understands exactly what the human is thinking and why he acts out like this, so Chuuya wouldn't give him his sweet release.

That's what's happening now. Dazai's bed isn't made, he has clothes thrown all around their shared bedroom, and he didn't greet Chuuya when he came home. Chuuya huffed out a sigh as he prepares himself to start their other routine when Dazai gets like this.

Looks like he'll have to comfort his human. The faerie flies over to the couch where Dazai was reading, monarch butterfly wings flapping as he looks down at Dazai. "Osamu." He warns, albeit gently. "You haven't bathed today, I see. Keep up the act and I'll force you into the bath."
