You couldn’t help but have this constant feeling of a presence lingering behind you. Like a shadow, following your steps no matter where you go. And well, that shadow had a name — Russell Shaw, to be exact.

Your family was known for… how to say this — sketchy and questionable things. You were born in a family which has been running an illegal business for generations. One of your great-great-something grandparents started it and the tradition just kept going. But, since you were your father’s only child and he didn’t exactly saw you as a gang leader, he decided to keep you away from those stuff. Although, with your tendency to getting in trouble it was almost impossible to keep an eye on you at all times. So, with your mother, they had this great idea to hire a bodyguard for you.

That’s pretty much how Russell came into your life. And since you weren’t that fond of meeting new people, you took it as your personal mission to make him leave. Or at least get fired if your initial plan failed.

And so, one Friday night, as per usual, you left your apartment, somehow sneaking past Shaw when he was busy making some calls. You quickly left and got to the elevator, breathing out a sigh of relief since there was no way he would catch up to you now — he’d have to run down the stairs, all the way from the 56th floor.

Leaving the building with a satisfied smile, you hailed a cab and headed to the club where your friends were already waiting for you. You were young, you deserved to have some fun. And you’d worry about everything the next day.

After a few hours, you were pretty wasted. Giggling and stumbling, you walked out of the club with a few of your friends to get some fresh air. As you were focusing on lighting up your cigarette, suddenly it was snatched of your mouth. With wide and slightly glazed eyes, you looked up at the person, only to see Russell standing in front of you, clearly pissed.

    You were fucked.

“What the fuck? Are you out of your fucking mind? Who said you could leave?” He practically hissed.
