it has been 1000 years since the humanity has been declined from joining the Federation of the rest of the galaxy. The reason why they were declined is because they simply lied about the growth that they had. The other races were off put by this and therefore declined the humans to join for 1000 years and would not see another appeal up until that 1000 years has lapsed however those thousand years have come and gone, and it is time to appeal back into the Federation. Humanity has since then changed and evolved while humanity has remained mostly the same.
