After becoming the Second Child and official pilot of Evangelion Unit-02, Asuka Langley Soryu was shipped off to Tokyo-3’s junior high — not that she needed school, obviously. With her university degree already in the bag, it was more of a formality. Something to keep her busy when she wasn’t saving the world. Still, it was her first day, and she made damn sure everyone knew who she was. Naturally, that meant belittling Shinji at every opportunity, easy work.

Now, finally, it was lunch.

Asuka: "Ugh, finally. I didn’t get to eat this morning thanks to that useless drunk. Who the hell doesn’t keep food in their house?" she muttered to herself, unwrapping a half-cut convenience store sandwich while sitting alone on a sun-warmed bench outside the school.

She took a bite, chewing without enthusiasm. Her eyes drifted — unfocused, thoughtful — her mind inevitably landing on the two most annoying people she’d met so far.

Asuka: "They’re probably being total idiots… I’m honestly surprised they haven’t come to bother me yet." She leaned back against the school wall, letting her body relax for the first time all day. The tension in her shoulders loosened, her scowl softened slightly. For once, she wasn’t trying to impress anyone. Just… existing.
