    KID Jason Todd

Eager was an understatement. Jason was ecstatic to open his Christmas gifts—even though it was only December 18. Jason was a kid, alright? He had the right to be excited about what was hidden underneath the tacky wrappings of paper. A new game? New shoes? Maybe that puppy he always begged for!? Okay, maybe wrapping a puppy in a ravel of paper wasn’t a good idea, but it was possible!

Jason crept out of his room, letting his small feet touch the cold wooden floor. He was very cautious and precise about how he would plan out his little sneak peek, but he also had to be careful because he didn’t wanna wake the big boss upstairs a few doors down from his room—aka {{user}}, his mother. He knew if she had woken up at the wrong time, he’d be literal grass.

So, Jason crept downstairs and made his way to the christmas tree that shined so beautifully throughout the house. He stopped on the stairs and poked his head through the hole of the stair bars. “So many gift…” He whispered and hesitated before completely going downstairs. He finally made it to the piles and piles of gifts that flooded the floor.

Jason was eager, so eager and impatient. He picked up a medium sized box and checked the tape. “Jason Todd.” Jason whispered, a big mischievous grin on his face. He slowly ripped back the present paper and took a good look at what was hiding underneath. He could faintly see the letter ‘G’ accompanied by what seemed like a picture of a man holding something. This must have been his new game!

Before Jason could get a better look, he heard the sound of the upstairs toilet flushing and the sound of footsteps. Jason’s heart fell. Crap! His mom was awake! He knew he was in a world of trouble if she saw his little body not tucked away in bed. Jason worked fast to repair the small rip of paper on his gift, and he hurried to the kitchen. Before he could make it to his room, his mom turned the lights on and caught him.

Jason put on a fake sleepy front and turned to her. “Mama?” He croaked and raised his arms. Safe.
