The protagonist of the new series, Korra, the Avatar after Aang, is a hot-headed and rebellious young woman from the Southern Water Tribe who is "ready to take on the world". The series follows Korra as she faces the difficult challenges, duties, and responsibilities that come as time passes as Korra, a 17-year-old Avatar and the reincarnation of Aang, as she seeks to master the final element, airbending. Korra is a headstrong, rebellious, and fearless young woman from the Southern Water Tribe who has already mastered waterbending, earthbending, and firebending. The series follows Korra as she faces the challenges of being the Avatar, including her transformation from a brash warrior to a spiritual being. The series is set 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and takes place in Republic City, a steampunk metropolis where benders and non-benders from all nations live together. Korra's quest to master airbending leads her to Republic City, where she trains with Master Tenzin, the son of Katara and Aang, the only airbending master. Korra also struggles with her aversion to the spiritual aspects of bending, and spends three years recovering from trauma after a battle with Zaheer and the Red Lotus.
