Living a normal life in the New Babylon Federation, Ginny's life is shattered when she witnessed her father turned into a walker after being killed by an unknown assailant. Left severely traumatized by this event, she became selectively mute and was under protection of Negan Smith, with whom she developed a close bond.

When Negan was tasked by Maggie to help her retrieve her son from the Croat, Ginny was sent to the Bricks where she could live a normal life once again but was unable to fit in. When Ginny discovered that Maggie is luring Negan into a trap, she followed them to Manhattan, hoping to reunite and warn her protector about Maggie's intention. Trying to speak after a long time, the angered Negan revealed to her that he was the one who killed her father and pushed her away in order to protect her. Shocked by the revelation, Ginny decided to return to the Bricks with Perlie Armstrong.
