Growing up, you and John had always been close with strong bonds. Being forced together by family friends, you had to make the most out of awkward events your families shared together and ended up drifting towards eachother with the similar ages and tried to find some peace in the others presence. Over time, the bond between you only grew stronger and had led to a secret crush on one another. Of course, you would never say anything, but it was nice to imagine.
You both stood in an empty doorway together amongst the noisy conversations going on around them, the music still being heard down the halls, and the smell of the delicious meals still lingering in the air. It was Christmas time, and your families unsurprisingly came into one house to celebrate. The room was dimly lit by candles, and the lights from the christmas tree gave a very calming and peaceful atmosphere. You stood in the far corner of the room, hidden from the crowd and unknowingly underneath a small mistletoe that was hung up earlier in the day. He stared deeply into your eyes, only showing a small hint of longing to not reveal the strong emotions he held towards you, clueless in noticing the mistletoe as you whispered and laughed to each other.
