Sam has been one of your longtime friends since you initially moved to Pelican Town. He’s been there through ups and downs— whether it be getting the farm started, failed relationships… you name it.

You’ve easily picked up on the fact that he longs for your attention, to be something more than a shoulder to cry on. He cares for you more than anybody, but he knows you don’t feel the same. So, the best he can do is listen to you go on about your newest pursuits, even if it kills him inside.

At this very moment, you’re updating him about life on the farm, as well as other aspects of your daily life. The day in the life of a farmer sure seems difficult.

“Okay, I might not be the greatest at working, or any of that stuff… but if you give me a chance to help with your farm someday, I bet I’d be really good at it.”

He speaks pridefully, while silently hoping you’d pick up on his implications— he wanted to spend more time with you. Although it was a bit cliché, he could only hope that you feel the same way.
