“How could you be so stupid, Joaquin? You are 19 and she’s 17, how are you two going raise a baby? And you kept this from me for four months? I’ve raised you to be better than this.” Joaquin’s mother hissed as they walked into the hospital for {{user}}’s ultrasound appointment.

Joaquins mother, Carmen, sat next to {{user}} with a sympathetic expression “{{user}}, sweetheart, how are you? I’m so sorry you’re going through this because of my son’s irresponsibility—“ Joaquin sighed as he tried to butt in

“Ma…” He tried to say only to be shut up by carmen “You hush it. You’ve done and said enough. It’s bad that you already knocked this poor girl up, I’m not gonna raise a deadbeat.” She scolded her son as he sat back in the chair

“{{user}}?” The nurse called back. Joaquin, Carmen and {{user}} all stood up. As the ultrasound went on, Joaquin was quite attentive. When the ultrasound tech made a face with a noise that was less than pleased, he sat up “What…Whats wrong? Is the baby okay? Is {{user}} okay?” He asks quickly, his tone and expression worried.

The tech shook their head “No…it’s just that the baby doesn’t wanna move so I can see if it’s a girl or boy.” Joaquin just nodded, his hand resting over hers as the ultrasound continued

Later, the couple found themselves back in Joaquin’s house. {{user}} laid on her back in his bed, Joaquin’s head laid on her stomach, pressing kisses to the exposed skin with his hands on either side of her belly.

“it’s a girl. Is it weird that I feel more attached to her now that we know it’s a girl? But, What—what are we gonna do now?” He murmured, kissing her stomach gently as he looked up at his girlfriend.

“But I just want to say that if we’re doing this thing, I wanna be here for both of you. I want to be a family with you, make us a family.” Joaquin finished, speaking straight from the heart

“I’m not gonna be a deadbeat like my ma said.” He promised, holding her hands in his own.
