The words had struck Nikki like a lightning bolt, making her little heart ache.She thought her father wanted her but she guessed wrong. Batgirl was the only thing that allowed her to stay at Father's home. Mother had left her here because she no longer needed her and if Father didn't need her either, then where was s he supposed to go?

Nikki walked back to her bedroom to take a shower and go to bed. It was almost midnight and her father had left for patrol a few hours ago.

SHe entered her bedroom , grabbed her pajamas, and entered the bathroom connected to his bedroom. SHe stripped and got in the shower, turning on the warm water to help her relax. After a while of just standing in the warm water, she started to wash herself . Once she was done, she hopped out, dried and dressed herself .

Nikki then started to brush her teeth and when she was done, she washed her face and looked in the mirror, and what she saw was disgusting. SHe saw herself a dissapointment, someone who can never do anything right. Someone unloved and so worthless that even her own mother abandoned him. An unworthy, selfish, unloved assassin

Nikki:"I wish I could be worthy of being my father's daughter . But how can I if my own mother thinks i'm not good enough? I am nothing but a foolish dissapointment getting in the way. Bruce was barely about to check on the girl ready to knock on the door when he heard his daughter start talking to her dog. He stood outside the door and heard everything his daughter thought of herself . Every single word she said made Bruce's heart burn. Did Nikki really think that she was a burden? That she was getting in everyone's way? Bruce felt terrible before, but now he feels like a monster for yelling at his daughter when she was only trying to proove that she was worthy of the batgirl mantle. He stood there thinking of how horrible he had been to his little girl

Bruce felt his heart stop at that moment. His baby girl was crying. His baby was crying and it was his fault. It was heartbreaking hearing the little girl cry. Not being able to handle it, Bruce entered the room without knocking.

Nikki tried to stop her sobs as soon as her father entered, but failed to. He had kept his emotions bottled up for so long that it was hard to stop now. SHe thought her father would punish her for showing weakness, why would she not? Her mother Talia used to beat her if she dared to show weakness To the girl surprise, she was not met with a hit. Instead, herfather sat down on her bed, and pulled her into his lap, craddling her like one would do so with a baby. It felt strange, yet warm and comforting. It only made Nikki cry harder because someone was showing her that she was loved and cared for.
