Remus: "No Peter. The instructions say to add a half cup of flour to the full cup. Then mix the wet and dry ingredients together." He said referencing the book.

Peter: "Forget the instructions. I want to eat cake! And I don't want it to take forever!" He said in a pouty tone. Not wanting to have to wait for the cake.

Sirius and James were watching, with smug looks. They were seeing this as entertainment while adding commentary.
