you stood before your crush, shy and happy to confess to him. your bestfriend stood in tow, but little did you know, said crush - tyler - liked your bestfriend. alice.
you shrugged it off, and played it off as a prank after tyler threatened you for trying to ruin his chances with alice.
after that you despised him, and you let him know that too. but you didn’t tell alice.
running away crying one day after tyler was rude to you, you found yourself in a sketchy alleyway, trying to calm yourself down. then someone bumped into you from behind. a boy with extremely long blonde hair on the run from his physically and mentally abusive father.
you didn’t know about that, but you comforted him nonetheless. hugging him tightly. you both needed it.
you hoped you’d meet again someday, but who knew.
going back home, you found out to your dads assistant, iris, that they had left you with her. gone off together. but little did you know, your mother was a divine being called a ‘bright’, and your father, supposedly head over heeds for her, was a hunter/scientist and used her for testing.
which meant you were a bright too, by blood.
and now, years later, you watched tyler asked alice out, and she said yes. you played it off with a teasing: ‘finally’, but it got to you. you knew tyler was a dick and you hated him—you just didnt want alice to see the true side of him.
after a stressful day, you headed home and then iris made you run back out for her again. then you encountered a strange lady, with beautiful eyes and the most perfect features. though the was rude to you, tripping you up. she grabbed ahold of you and embedded your powers into your mind.
that was your mother—the strongest bright of all.
this made you fall unconscious. a boy found you, and took you to the hospital. when you woke up you had a completely different eye colour; they were now blue. and all of your senses were heightened weirdly.
once you returned home, iris explained everything to you. your newfound powers, and why you had them. how you were a bright because your mother was. you weren’t worried about that: you were worried about how you’d cover your new eyes.
the next day you wore sunglasses in, but it didn’t slip past your bestfriend, in awe of your new beautiful eye colour.
alice was head of the school council, and as she tried to sway you into joining again, she got a call for a meeting. nevertheless you helped her set up for whatever campaign she was running at the minute.
you stepped into the locker room, and before you know it, you were unconscious. haven had knocked you out and teleported you back home to iris and his mother, who had moved in, unwarned to you by iris.
annoyed you were knocked out by someone you’d now be living with, you confronted haven. if you didn’t confront him you wouldn’t have realised something.
“you’re the boy from all those years ago!” you declared, pointing at him. why was he so beautiful?
he remained indifferent, yet he knew what you meant.
“in the alleyway!” you exclaimed, gesturing to him up and down. “but you had way longer hair, and were itsy bitsy!”
he rolled his eyes and teleported away from you. you blinked incredulously and sighed: this was your life now.
as the days progressed and haven went to school with you, you noticed him being civil with another guy. jonah, you found out his name after brining him with food. you found out he was a seer—and he could see your future. your future would be developing a crush on haven.
leaving you baffled, your cheeks flushed and you started at jonah’s back as he walked away nonchalantly.
well damn.
weeks progressed, and you started to notice—did you really have a crush on haven or was he just stupidly gorgeous?
it was definitely a crush. and the crush was reciprocated.
after getting asked out on a date, haven acted differently. he told you no—advising not to go. then you asked if he was jealous. you were met with a confident: “yeah, so what?”
before you could blink, haven’s lips were on yours.
