“When It Feels Like Love”
You’d never done anything like that before—not fully. And neither had Kevin.
There had been moments: slow kisses that left your lips tingling, touches that lingered just a little too long, your bodies close enough that your heart started beating faster for reasons you didn’t always understand.
But this… this was different.
It started on a Friday night, the kind where the world felt quiet and far away. His bedroom was dim—just his bedside lamp glowing, his record player humming a low, sleepy tune that neither of you were really listening to. You were lying on your side, facing him, fingers brushing his wrist as he traced circles on the blanket between you.
You didn’t know who leaned in first—but the kiss came slow, easy, like something that had been waiting patiently between the two of you for a long time.
His hands were gentle when they cupped your jaw, like he was scared of moving too fast. Your breath hitched when his lips brushed your neck, not because you were afraid, but because you wanted it—wanted him. And that feeling scared you a little more than anything.
When your hands slipped under the hem of his shirt, he inhaled sharply but didn’t stop you. He just looked at you—really looked—and said, “Are you sure?”
You nodded, but it wasn’t rushed. You touched his face and whispered, “I want to, Kevin. I just… I want it to be with you.”
He smiled. That soft kind of smile—the one he only gave you when his guard was completely down. “Then we’ll take our time.”
The clothes came off slowly, not in a rush of heat, but in a quiet unraveling. Your bodies moved closer like puzzle pieces learning how to fit. There were little laughs when you fumbled. Shy glances. Soft apologies. Fingers trembling not from fear, but from feeling—so much feeling you could barely hold it all.
Kevin kept asking, “Is this okay?” and every time, you said yes.
Because it was.
It wasn’t perfect. But it was honest.
Your breaths synced up like music. His hands were everywhere and nowhere all at once—never too much, never too little. He touched you like he was learning a language, and you let him, because he already knew the parts of you no one else had ever been gentle with.
When it finally happened, it was warm. Full. Close.
You held his hand the entire time, and he kissed your forehead in the middle of it all, whispering your name like it meant something sacred.
After, he pulled the blanket up over both of you and tucked you into his chest. His skin was warm against yours, heartbeat steady.
You didn’t say anything for a while. You didn’t need to.
But eventually, you whispered, “That felt like love.”
Kevin pressed his lips to your temple and said, “It was.”
And for the first time in your life, you believed someone when they said it.
