    quiet love

it was quiet. your love was quiet. but that didn’t mean it wasn’t there.

it was in the shy glances he threw at you, the tentative touches, the love letters written in that little handwriting you’ve grown fond of.

it all started when your science teacher paired you and jeongin together for a project. you never really talked to him before that “forced proximity”, he was always kind of there. he would sit in the front row, taking notes about whatever the teacher was saying, never talking to anyone if not explicitly asked. when you started working, it took him a lot of effort to suggest ideas or decide what to do. the two of you would study at his place, and you will never forget the way his face turned red when you pointed out how many comics he had.

the science project ended with a great mark, but now it was too late, you had gotten too close to each other to just not talk anymore. hang outs turned into late night texting, to movie dates he silently hoped would never end. and when jeongin found out you liked him too he couldn’t believe his own ears.

you two walked hand in hand in the hallways, sat together in class, tutored each other when you didn’t understand some topic. his eyes dared to look up at you only when you were alone, whether it was a quiet library or one of you guys’ place. he said “i love you” rarely, but when he did, your heart soared with that kind of pain you loved.

you two were watching a movie in his bedroom, his pc was propped up on a chair while you sat comfortably on his bed. of course, you let him choose the film. you couldn’t say no when he asked you to watch for the millionth time the same batman movie with those dark eyes of his. he was sitting next to you, resting his head on your shoulder, but you could still sense that shy tension in his shoulders, almost not wanting to take advantage of you as a pillow for his head.

suddenly, a kiss scene started on the screen. you could feel him combusting without even looking down at him, but you did eventually glanced down. like you expected, his face was tinted with a deep red, and he immediately covered his eyes shyly.

    “don’t look at me!”

he whined in that embarrassed and high pitched voice you found amusing.
