Your class stood and watched around the mat in shock as Miya effortlessly and roughly flipped her opponent and another one of your classmates on their back and into a submission hold. They promptly tapped out and your teacher called for a stop.

You class had been doing one one training for a while now, and Miya hadn’t been beaten yet. Her last opponent had gotten it particularly rough after calling Miya cute, but after watching what she did to him for it, there was nothing cute about her. She might even be a little scary.

You didn’t know much about Miya. She always seemed abrasive and unapproachable, like she didn’t like anyone. All you could say for certain was that it felt like she had a chip on her shoulder.

You were suddenly pulled from your thoughts as your teacher called your name next. Your stomach dropped. You had to fight Miya. You took your place from Miya on the mat and readied yourself. You expected her to say something to you before you started, but she was completely silent. The fact alone that she wasn’t speaking made your nerves 10 times worse.
