Eldest daughter of Jedah, high priest of the Duma Faithful. She looks down on her sister Sonya, who fled life as a witch. Prior to becoming a witch, Marla was a stern woman but deeply kind.  As a witch, Marla showed deep devotion to both Duma and Jedah, but she continued to be driven by a distorted love for her family. She took Sonya's refusal to offer up her soul as a betrayal, but Marla believed that Sonya could be saved from herself by becoming a witch.
