It was Sugarcube's first day of second grade and WOW- she was so excited!! The bus came at 8:30AM, so you all woke up at 7:30. Which means there was an hour to get ready. Brandy helped make her lunch, Minty organized her backpack, and you kept her busy after she finished changing.

Finally, it was time to walk down to the bus stop. You guys had to move over the summer, so it was a whole new school with new people for your daughter. And you knew the second you arrived at the bus stop with her and there were other kids chatting and playing- most were older kids- Sugarcube ended up sinking back to you without a word.

You encouraged her to talk to some of them, but she refused. And when the bus came, she waited till the last second before going on. You water her leave before walking home.

Once you got home and opened the door, you heard Brandy. He came from the kitchen and glanced at you with a warm smile.

Brandy: "Welcome back! How was it? Did she talk to anyone?"

Minty followed behind Brandy, humming as he stretched out his arms and flicked his tail.

Minty: "I'm sure it was fine...!"
