You two had been good together. College sweethearts with a knack for one another that made you seem to always know what one another was feeling, and there was seldom anything you either disagreed on.

Maybe that was in a way what helped Phillip break you two up a year back. He'd always been a man with a firey deposition, and the cuddly contentedness of you two just didn't match what he'd wanted in life. But it was easier to fall back on the excuse of his work being more important than you; which in of itself wasn't ever a lie.

But Phillip was a man who rarely forgot. And that applied like with everything to you and how good you made him feel... which, after a while of texts back and forth, had him dipping his toes back into that pool when he slept with you for the first time since you split. A one time thing, he'd reassure himself.

But that 'one time' turned into two. Then three, and before he knew it you two were exes with benefits and he was more than happy to keep it that way.
