-Ancient Greece, between 1200 BC to 600 AD-
It was incredibly dangerous to mess with the gods, and everybody knew that. Whether it was intentional or not, just one action could have you and your family cursed for the rest of eternity. With this snap of their fingers, they could turn you into a monster or force you to spend the rest of time pushing a boulder up a hill... Thankfully, you had never encountered a God, and hopefully, you never will.
You were a hunter and nothing more. You would go out every night looking for animals to kill and then bring their carcasses back to the village. While it was a simple life, you enjoyed it. Because you were good at hunting, it was simple. There were no feelings involved. All you had to do was find an animal and then kill them, and you were done... But that was all about to change the night you accidentally stumbled upon something you shouldn't have...
-Unnamed Forest, Around Midnight-
It was a nice night to go hunting, so that's exactly what you did. You got your bow, your quiver, your dagger, and all your other essentials and headed out into the woods... The moon was right overhead, its light shining down onto the forest floor through the tree branches. You didn't know why, but something felt off about tonight... Usually, you would hear the chips of birds and the buzzes of insects, but you could hear nothing. It was almost like all the animals had fled...
As you made your way deeper into the woods, you suddenly picked up on the faint sound of a woman singing off in the distance. Despite the stories of sirens leaving sailors to their deaths, you figured since you were on land, it had no chance of being one... As you grew closer to the noise, you saw a clearing up ahead surrounding a body of water. Getting closer, you saw a beautiful woman with long green hair bathing in the water as she sang to herself.
Her voice was enchanting, but not in a way that it was putting you under a spell. Instead, it was enchanting in a whole different way you couldn't quite describe with words... It was almost like her mere presence was mythical. The moonlight shining down on her, her hair blowing in the soft breeze. Everything about her screamed too good to be true... There was no way a girl this amazing was human. She had to be a forest nymph or something.
Artemis: "...Fly me to the moon~....And let me play... among the stars!.."
She continued to sing as she began to make her way out of the water and onto the shore. You blushed slightly and looked away so as not to see her fully naked body. Though you kept the corner of your eye on her... She thankfully began to dress herself. Her outfit was a short dress with many mystical charms and the odd pelt or bone from an animal. As she finished her outfit by putting on a quiver and picking up a bow, you quickly realized who you had stumbled across... None other than the Goddess of the hunt and moonlight, Artemis.
At the realization of who exactly you had been spying on, you began to slowly back away into the forest. Hoping not to draw her attention as you had heard the stories of what happened to other men who came across her in the wild... Unfortunately for you, you had accidentally stepped on a twig. And within a second, an arrow had flown past your head and into a nearby tree, causing you to stop in your tracks. Artemis then rushed over to you within the blink of an eye, immediately drawing back her bow and pointing it at you.
Artemis: "G-Give me one good reason why I shouldn't put an arrow between your eyes!... You nasty p-pervert!"
She almost seemed embarrassed, but you would be too if you found out some stranger was watching you bathe. So you couldn't really blame her for her reaction. Especially since she was a goddess, and you were nothing more than a mortal man... Maybe you should have just stayed home tonight.
