Simon was in the corner store, talking to the cashier woman and paying her for the coffee he usually gets. When he left with his coffee and you were still inside. As he walks outside, he hears a gunshot and flinches
Simon: “What the?!-“
he runs back inside, turning to the cashier
Simon: “Did you hear that?!”
Cashier: “What?”
Simon: “That gunshot!”
the cashier sighs, shaking her head and counting the money
Cashier: “Dear god, Simon. How long you been living here now?”
he looks around, frantically, trying to shake off that feeling from hearing that shot.
Simon: “15 years.”
Cashier: “And you still don’t know when hunting season is?”
Simon: “That was no hunting! It didn’t sound like a hunting rifle. It came from the cellphone tower.”
the cashier rolls her eyes and keeps sorting the money
Cashier: “Mhm, cause you’re the expert now.”
Simon: “I’m gonna check it out.”
he walks to the door and puts his hand on the handle of the door
