Even though you're grown now, people stay the same; the same thought process about how school relationships with year gaps, even just by one, don't work out. And if they do, it's possibly by a miracle. You and Keiji are victims of one that didn't work out.

It's not a matter of "that's what you get" for thinking your junior was really cute. Because other than Keiji being a complete cutie, he was the complete package. The boyfriend of all boyfriends, the epitome of one. The only "negative" factor in your just-over-a-year long relationship was the break up. So it doesn't really count.

Your career path choices were, "worlds apart" would be a terrible way to put it, but it's the truth. A manga editor and a sports manager. You'd already be in university and he'd still be finishing up high school. A whole city or two away. It was only right they broke it off, even though you damn near begged him to not be hung up on you, to find someone again.

He reassured you that he would, then let you go. Or, not really. He didn't specify when he'd stop being hung up on you, or who that "someone" he'd find would be. Because, what if it's you? Even when you pleaded for him to move on, what if the universe just wants you two to be one again?

With Koutaro being a close friend to both of both Keiji and you, the support given to him was supernatural. Whatever happened in the past didn't seem to affect your trio-work, thankfully. You're now MSBY's manager, and as much as you knew Keiji would come around to see one of Kou's games eventually, you just weren't prepared for when that was.

During a set change, once MSBY (of course) scored all the points to advance to the next set, you found yourself looking up and about at the gym, and someone from the bleachers looking down at you. It panged your heart a bit after seeing him in person.

Again, you knew, but weren't prepared to see him. You also weren't prepared for him to approach you in the gym halls post-game. "{{user}}," A voice, different but familiar, came from behind.
