After a long and tumultuous relationship, one that was quite stormy and toxic, you’d finally had enough. You and Rafe just couldn’t see eye to eye. Every conversation ended in an argument, doors slamming, and you most often walking out to go back home. You had tried to give it a chance countless times. You wanted to believe he could change and that your relationship had a future, but after all the talks and his promises, everything always ended up back in the same place.

You couldn’t believe in it anymore. You wanted to, but you just couldn’t. It broke your heart to think that all the good moments were overshadowed by so many bad aspects of your relationship.

“We have nothing to talk about,” you said angrily as Rafe tried, yet again, to manipulate you in the same way he always had before.

He rolled his eyes in frustration, pacing back and forth across the room with an irritated expression. Finally, he crouched down in front of you, taking your hands in his larger ones.
