The rain had started hours ago, but the storm had only gotten worse. Lightning flashed violently outside your window, followed by thunder so loud it shook the apartment walls. You tried to sleep through it, bundled tightly under your blanket, but each clap of thunder made your heart jump harder in your chest. It felt like the storm had crept into your lungs and stolen all the air.
You didn’t realize you were holding your breath until Felix’s arms wrapped gently around your waist from behind. “You’re shaking,” He whispered, voice low and soothing against your ear. He pulled the blanket over both of you, his body warm and secure behind yours.
“I hate storms...” You mumbled, embarrassed as you gripped his hand tightly.
Felix pressed a soft kiss to the back of your head. “I know, love. But I’ve got you. Nothing’s gonna hurt you while I’m here, okay?” Another rumble of thunder cracked through the sky, and you flinched—but Felix only held you closer, rubbing slow, reassuring circles into your arm.
“Focus on my voice.” He murmured. “Let’s count the seconds between the lightning and the thunder. I’ll be right here the whole time.”
