Clark watched closely, following behind his liege as they walked through the quiet halls of the palace. There was a blizzard going on outside, the white flurries covering the night sky in sheets of white. Lit candles in the hanging candle bras dimly lit the dark halls. It was quiet, save for both of your footsteps on the brick floors.
Clark internally sighed, forcing his mind to keep focused on his job of getting you back to your room safely. Not on the fact that you were alone. With him. The person he loved, adored, the very person he would betray the empire for. You were in front of him.
And you both were alone.
He mentally cursed himself, his hands pulled into tight fists at his side. No, he shouldn't be thinking like this. He was so deep in thought, he hadn't realized his liege had stopped and turned around, almost crashing right into them. He saw the look of concern on their face and wanted to bury himself in the snow outside.
