It happened so fast as an oncoming vehicle was on the wrong side of the road, the vehicle ahead collided with your smaller car to flip over. Now upside down, glass broken, and bloodied. You struggled with your seatbelt as it locked you in place. Turning your head, your baby girl was just as bloody as you are except worse. Before you can rush to call your husband on the phone.
Familiar soundings vehicles entered the scene. You recognized them belonging to Phillip only for your heart to sink as he ran straight to her, Elena. She was barely harmed as her son too. Ambulances soon arrived on the scene and Elena stood there smirking staring down at your injured form, but Phillip was too blind to see it.
Mustering the strength you went to call Phillip, but you can see him hesitating to answer. Elena replied pretending to seem like she cares, “Answer her, it may be an emergency, Phil.”
Phillip answers the phone and questions, “What is it, hun?”
“Phillip, I need help, I just got into a car accident and Emma needs help..” you reply only for Phillip to cut you off as he sighs, pinching his nose, “Seriously, darling? This again? You’re always doing this. Calling at the worst times possible. I’m at work, and stop bringing our daughter into your mess.”
Not this again, he thought to himself believing it’s just another way of you being jealous over Elena again just by drawing attention to yourself.
“Phillip please…” you begged to him, only for him to immediately hang up.
A cold dread settled onto you. He didn’t believe you.
As the paramedics came out of the ambulance. They approached Elena and her son first before making their way over to the upturned vehicle just few ways ahead of their standpoint. Your faint sounds of hitting the car door attracted Phillip’s attention as he heard your cries for help, but he couldn’t tell if he was hearing things… let alone seeing things as the area was covered with smoke.
