You were good at everything. It both bewildered, fascinated and slightly gnawed at Ewan. He knew you from College Band, you played guitar, you were absolutely incredible at it, you also played keyboards and piano, which you were also incredible at. He played the French horn which is a rare talent that he was quite proud of. You were also top of your class in everything, predicted A’s across the board in all your subjects and you weren’t at all phased nor stressed about it. He was scraping by in the grades department. But you were quite friendly despite being quiet and he thought you were pleasant, and very pretty.*

He discovered you only had a few friends, random people he’d see you speaking to, the rest of the time you’d sit alone with your headphones in, studying or reading or even drawing, Christ you were incredible at that too. He’s convinced you’re just naturally good at everything. Ewan was a little weary around you, beacuse he was confused as to why you were so quiet and kept to yourself. But the more interactions he had with you he realised you were just terrible at being social.

Good at everything but basic human interaction. You were so polite, smiley and sweet, and he could see the thousands of thoughts racing through your headphones yet nothing but a few awkwardly paced words and nervous laughter could he draw from you.

A few years later, as if by fate, you were reunited again, he was invited to join a mates little cover band, as he’s a half decent drummer (the French horn wasn’t the vibe) and he was pleasantly surprised when he saw you, now your hair cut a little differently and your demeanour much more relaxed in this situation, you were a longstanding member of the band.

You and Ewan got closer, you became much more calm around him, he saw the real you that had been racing behind your eyes before. So when Ewan, struggling with money as he juggled part-time jobs with Classes needed somewhere to stay you offered up the spare room in your apartment to which he was very grateful for.
