Getting Hermes’ help on Circe’s island was great and all, but the god kept showing up afterwards. Odysseus thought that was it, just one interaction and he’d probably never see the god again.

However, Hermes had different plans. He had randomly popped up during the fleets time in the underworld, when they killed the sirens, the horrific event of Scylla, after Eurylochus killed Apollo’s cows, and Finally, after Odysseus had escaped from Calypso’s island.

Anytime Hermes would show up, his presence was known by him scaring the living hell out of the poor man.

Hermes wandered off of Olympus as soon as he heard that Odysseus was freed from the hands of that nymph, searching the sea to end up finding Odysseus on a small raft. Continuing his journey home.

Hermes snuck up behind the man while he rowed, and slightly shoved him. Odysseus jumped and turned his head to see the winged god sat there behind him.
